The College of Charleston Friends of the Library supports and advances the work of the Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library, Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, Rivers Communication Museum, Lowcountry Graduate Center Library, and Marine Resources Library. Membership dollars add depth to research collections with strategic acquisition of books, databases, and journals. They also build the collection of rare materials through new acquisitions and the conservation of fragile books and manuscripts we currently own.
Gifts to the Friends of the Library also support lively, thought-provoking dialogues on issues of the day. The Friends of the Library Speakers Series provides opportunities for lifelong learning and strengthens our campus community, as well as the Charleston community at-large. Our annual schedule of events connects the library with world-class partners within the College of Charleston, and with people from across the Lowcountry and beyond.
